A sphinx-like statue outside of De Young Museum in San Francisco. It is also interesting to see the sphinx has breasts and erected nipples. It was in December and cold.
My recollection, from reading Greek mythology, is that whenever humans encountered a Sphinx (Oedipus, etc.), it was always female (hence the common description: "head of a woman, body of a lion"), and therefore had breasts.
What, would they sand the nipples down later when it's warm in the summer then?
